To ensure Chris’s legacy lives on, The Preservation Trades Network (PTN) in partnership with the Family and Friends of Chris Robinson are pleased to announce they are accepting applications for the 1st round of Christopher P. Robinson International Preservation Trades Exchange Scholarships.
Scholarship Details: Two (2) scholarships up to $2500 each for the tuition and travel expenses for craftspeople and trades workers to participate in international cross-cultural exchanges will be awarded. These exchanges are to be designed to increase the awareness of traditional trade skills, preservation knowledge, conservation techniques, and understanding of traditional building materials and their relations to the built environment.
These experiences could range from spending time apprenticing under an international master trades person working on an exciting project to participating in Historic Environment Scotland Building Conservation program at the HES Engine Shed in Stirling. A partnership between the Preservation Trades Network and Historic Environment Scotland has been established for providing this access and slots into this program.
For the purpose of this scholarship, traditional trades is defined as the construction skills needed to preserve historic structures, such as brick and stone masonry, timber framing, log building, traditional roofing, wood joinery, plasterwork, painting, blacksmithing and similar trades.
Scholarship Process:
The fund will be administered by PTN and recipients will be selected by PTN’s Education and Scholarship committee and members of the Robinson Family, based on a set of rating criteria.
